Our Cottage (18)

Hi.  Glad to see you.  I hope the pumpkin worked out for you.

Some of you have asked to see our little cottage.  It is wonderful and I wish I could move it to the US with me and live in it forever.

We are about 100 yards from the sea wall, or promenade, whatever you prefer to call it.  It is the wall that separates the road from the Moray Firth which empties into the North Sea.  On stormy days the waves crash into the wall and jump high into the air.  Today, however, the sea is calm and there is no crashing on the wall.  It is a calm day, about 4⁰ C  (that’s about 39⁰ F).  And no wind, which is always a plus.

The houses here in SeaTown, the part of Cullen where we live, are mostly small.  Many are former fishermen cottages, with a few newer models mixed in.  However, they are all very similar and the quaintness is preserved.

So, Our House.   First, the front door.  On the second picture, the window on the end is in my bedroom. The fence in the back is a small service patio.  There are the trash bins there; a line to hang out the clothes; the door to the shed.  In the shed there is extra fire wood and a dryer, sort of and a lot of other stuff.  I say dryer sort of because it is just as easy to hang the clothes in the house.

The first room downstairs is the Living Room.  There are places to sit, books to read and a table for dining.  What more could you ask?

Here are two pictures of the kitchen.  It is pretty small but works well.  The  washing machine is in the kitchen.  Then you see the downstairs hall with the tartan carpet.  It leads past the front door into Anne’s room.

There is a hallway upstairs with some extra room next to the stairs.  That’s where we hang our clothes to dry.  There are three bedrooms. Actually, two bedrooms and an artist’s studio with a day bed.  Anne’s bedroom is downstairs and mine is up.

We decided to give me the room upstairs because I like the temperature warmer.  Probably , if it was warm enough for me downstairs, it would be too hot for Anne upstairs.  Oh, and there is a bathroom; indoors.

Note in my room and in the studio there are skylights.  It also gives you a good idea of how low the ceilings are.

That’s all for now. See you later.
